PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society is kicking off the spring season with a major volunteer tree-planting effort across the region.
This week, volunteers are distributing and planting 650 trees in local neighborhoods.
On Tuesday, hundreds of new trees were unloaded and sorted at the Philabundance Warehouse in Roxborough.
The trees will be planted on Saturday, as part of an effort to grow the Philadelphia region's so-called " tree canopy" and promote healthier, greener communities.
